Out hip hopper, Soce, the Elemental Wizard, and popolio go way back. Okay, as far back as 2009. We featured him in a pop quiz last March, showcased one of his videos in April, and he even donated CDs (and other items) for the goodie boxes we gave away at our One Year Anniverary Mixer in September. So, we’re pretty much family in more ways than one, by now.
When I approached him about being our guest contributor for the first MY TOP 10 Countdown of 2010 (continuing our popolio Artist-helmed TOP 10s of Year 2), I had no idea he’d come up with such a compelling concept. Sometimes I’ve included BONUS videos; other times I’ve included BONUSES throughout a MY TOP 10; popolio Artist and pop-stress, Tarra Dei (our first TOP 10-er who kicked things off in October) decided to include BONUSES with all of her TOP 10: Song Titles Not Used As Lyrics; but no one has ever tied in the second video to the theme like Soce has. You have to have both videos for Soce’s TOP 10 to work. Read for yourself.

For this TOP 10 Countdown, I have chosen my favorite sets of music videos that tie to each other, whether it’s a rap song and the original song that was sampled, two songs that sound very similar in either melody or chord structure, or that connect in other mysterious ways.
